Patient Advocacy

One of the primary treatment goals of all the Pride Medical services is to facilitate, encourage or to otherwise enable each individual patient to become involved in a process that will enhance emotional and spiritual growth, and assist in having him/her reach a higher level of functioning, creativity and satisfaction. This goal is rarely achieved immediately, but the seeds for such growth needed is always kept in mind so opportunities to nurture such growth will not be lost. Our approach is defined as an integrated, inter-disciplinary approach by a team of professionals which affords the person the opportunity to better function and achieve maximum potential. Many times, complications arise with respect to health insurance claims or understanding of benefits, work related issues due to illness or various other related factors. Unnecessary losses of health care benefits can cause delays in the provision of continuous medical care, (for example in being discharged from the hospital and provision of other medical care), thus generating increased expense and dependency, as well as contributing to the overall stress and physical/psychological deterioration. Understanding health care benefits is essential for patients to (1) maintain continuous coverage, (2) determine efficient utilization and, (3) acknowledge any insurance caps. Being proactive with this knowledge, allows one to prepare and plan for healthcare in areas projecting a need for additional or supplemental benefits. In part of the planning and advocacy agenda, our goal is to assist in helping facilitate planning for maintaining control in medical service delivery. To enhance that delivery, Pride Medical offers the following:
  • Patient Liaison for Health Insurance benefits
  • Employment Disability Counseling
  • Patient/Employer Advocacy
  • Hospital Aftercare Coordination
  • Social Security Disability Coordination
  • Living Wills and Durable/Medical Power of Attorney
  • Hospice Planning and Coordination
  • Community Resource Referrals and Coordination
